It's all about seafood, pasties and cream teas!

Fantastic local produce and the best places to eat it

Cornwall is a bit of a foodie paradise. We have quintessential cream teas, classic pasties, the freshest seafood and a huge wealth of producers making everything from charcuterie and cheese to chilli sauces, chocolate and cakes. All washed down with refreshing local wines, beers, ciders, teas or juices.

Pop to the shops

Our nearby farm shops sell a huge range of local produce such as Deli Farm Charcuterie and Cornish Gouda, if you want to pick up something special for dinner. A 5-minute drive up the road takes you to Hilltop Farmshop and Cafe with fresh fruit and veg, bread and treats. A bit further, but well worth the trip, is Boscastle Farmshop and Cafe with stunning coastal views and superb cream teas. Mably Farm Shop is a proper farm where you can buy sustainable beef, lamb and pork and see the animals in the fields. Shops locally include Steve Heard Butcher in Camelford, he’ll help you make the perfect barbecue box plus local cheeses like Cornish Blue. There’s also Cornish Maids delicious pasty shop. Over in Port Isaac you can pick up the catch of the day from Dennis Knight (who delivers here on Wednesdays) or the tastiest crab and lobster from Just Shellfish (deliveries on Friday). And of course, you can buy fresh eggs from us here on the farm.

One thing’s for sure – you won’t go hungry!

Michelin moments

The 2021 Michelin Food Guide features a whopping 40 Cornish restaurants! There are three boasting a Michelin Star, and they all happen to be relatively local to us. They are Nathan Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen and Outlaw’s New Road in Port Isaac (20 mins) and No 6 Padstow in, you guessed it, Padstow (30 mins).

What’s more is that there are eight recommended restaurants all within 30 minutes of Camelford including St Tudy Inn just 10 mins down the road, Pilchards in Port Gaverne and The Mariners in Rock, and a further six in Padstow.

Cream teas

Of course there’s only one way to eat a cream tea, the right way, the Cornish way, and that’s jam first, cream second. No argument. You’ll be glad to know we’re working our way through the cream teas on offer in the locality and so far our absolute favourite place for an afternoon tea is Bossiney Tea Rooms. And for a brilliant cream tea, Boscastle Farm Shop Café. Of course there are many, many places to stop for a quintessentially British high tea Insta-moment: stop in one of the lovely cafés on a wander round Tintagel and tuck in, look across the harbour from your table in Port Isaac or down one of the hidden side streets in Padstow.

If you want to go truly Cornish on your afternoon treat though, have a go making Thunder & Lightning and tell us what you think!

On our doorstep

Here in Camelford there are a selection of takeaways – brilliant fish and chips from Peckish, tasty dishes from NomNoms and the friendly Mason’s Arms with their cosy beer garden and delicious wood-fired pizzas do takeaway too. Four Seasons cafe on the bridge is the place to go for a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day or coffee and cakes in the afternoon.

Wine, beer and cider

We are just ten minutes from Tintagel Brewery and Bistro where you can pick up legendary beers such as Caliburn, Pendragon and Merlin’s Muddle, and wagyu beef from the shop, or enjoy a delicious meal made using local produce at the Bistro with fantastic views.

At Camel Valley towards Bodmin you can take a tour of their vineyards and enjoy a tipple with lunch before stocking up on their award-winning wines to take home.

Even closer to home is Rock Gin, a bit further down the A39. You can visit the distillery to find out how they blend the taste of Cornwall into their gins and rums.

And no visit to the West Country is complete without a refreshing cider! Pre-book a visit to Haywood Farm for an orchard tour and to sample their ciders. Or you can just pop along to their shop to stock up.
