Help us start a community market garden

Do you have green fingers or would you like to? Join us and get your hands dirty at this sociable and community-spirited day.

10am-1pm, Saturday 25 March, Higher Culloden Farm

If you’re looking to meet like-minded people, learn about No Dig gardening, find out a little about our community market garden project with Camelford CIC, or have expertise you’d like to share, we’d love you to join us. We’ll be working hard but there’s still time to chat and connect with the others so this is a great social opportunity as well as a brilliant way to give something to the community. Plants and people have the power to create lasting change!

You don’t need any previous experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get a bit mucky. From 10am we’ll be learning about the new project and No Dig methods, then putting that into action with setting up veg beds for a couple of hours. Wear weather-appropriate clothes you don’t mid getting a bit dirty. The kettle will be on for hot drinks, and biscuits to power you through and the alpacas will be on hand to offer encouragement! Then at the end of the session, we can survey what we’ve achieved and be rewarded with soup and a roll (for a suggested donation) and a chat about what’s next.

If you have gardening gloves, kneeling pads or even a shovel that you can bring along with you this would be great, we have a couple of spares for those who don’t and we’ll be sharing different jobs. We also have a few spare pairs of wellies if you don’t have any (but in limited sizes).

We’re a short five-minute walk down College Road, Camelford, opposite Church Field Car Park. Parking on site for Blue Badge holders only, otherwise please park in the car park and walk over. There are toilets and hand washing facilities near where we will be working.

When you arrive through the farm gate, follow the signs for the pods and meet at the barn where we’ll be there to say hi. To keep it sociable and manageable, spaces are limited so reserve your space/s soon. Supervised children 12 and over are welcome to join in.

If you have any accessibility requirements please get in touch or include them as you RSVP for your ticket so we can make sure we offer the support and information you need. Also, please let us know any dietary requirements that might be relevant.

We look forward to meeting you!
